RUST PREVENTATIVE OIL (RP)

RP oils are rust preventives that are blends of complex organic and inorganic thickeners with virgin mineral oils. They are strongly polar in nature so that they bond with metal surfaces to form a skin that prevents attack by air and moisture. RP will even displace water from wet surfaces and they will neutralize acids to prevent further corrosion by the environment. They can be pigmented and can be applied over old paint where they will penetrate cracks in the paint to reach the metal beneath.
